Jovian moon transit

Just checking..is that a moon transiting causing that nice dark spot up near one of the poles of Jupiter right now? Which moon is it?

I saw the moon shadow on Jupiter as well. I am not sure myself which moon.

It was Ganymede according to Astronomy 2018, wanted to get some avis' of the transit but cloud and an obstructed eastern view spoiled that idea.
There will be more in the months ahead.

Get the JupiterMoons app from sky and telescope; worth every cent! If you were up later you would have also seen Ganymede transiting as well as Io and it's shadow; all this between 5:30 and 6:30 this morning. Ganymede's disk was easily seen as a bright globe against the darkened limb of Jupiter and it gave a strong 3D appearance even with a mono eyepiece.

If you get the app you can tap on the disk of Jupiter to zoom in and zoom out.

Poor seeing tonight but was able to watch the shadow transit of Europa upto halfway through at 300X.

Was unable to split Antares (2.6 arcsec) but in moments of fair seeing the Galilean moons were visible as disks.

Looks like we have to wait to June for decent seeing.

Managed to see some of the transit in my ED100 but seeing was too poor to make it enjoyable.
