Powered Hub which runs off 12V?

I am looking for a powered USB hub which can run off my dark site battery system (12V). I have a 7 port MBeat hub in the observatory but it uses a 5V power supply (AC). I suppose I could run the MBeat off a small inverter but that seems complicated. What do you suggest?:question:

I have a similar need with my 6 port powered hub.
The solution was to use a Jaycar 12v converter this gives me sufficient power (60W) at various voltages including 6V for the hub. No issues, no drama.

Hi Glen you could try Jaycar they have this type DC to DC Step Down Voltage Converter Module CAT.NO: AA0236 it may work for you

Runs happily off 12.8V, but is now harder to find as its outdated
Just look for USB hubs which have integrated "charging ports"
as most of these utilise a 12V power supply

StarTech do a range of 12V hubs. I have a couple that I have been running at 13.8V for a few years now and they haven't missed a beat.

Caution with those "USB chargers" when used to power a USB Hub... there may not be sufficient amps for all the gear working through the hub....
(Edit) Andrew, sorry...just re-read your message - you refer to USB hubs WITH built-in USB charge ports, not using a USB charger to power a hub. My mistake.

No probs.
When i was digging a few years back, i got told the units that had dedicated "charge ports" in them needed the higher voltage supply to get enough headroom for the chargers. Some used 9V supplies and a few used 12V. It looks like the proliferation of devices that now need charging means there are more 12V hub units around now.

( Its like finding motherboards with true COM and LPT ports. Once you know what to look for, you can refine your searching )
