well i had my very first outing with my "new" gstar ex3 earlier this evening. my oh my what a challenge:rofl: it made me look far side of ordinary, an exponential learning curve

used toupsky 3.7 and i was well and truly in newby territory:lol::P

so this is with the 127ED at prime focus a series of 5 panel mosaic
don't look for the tetonic plates , the smudgy sky or the horrible processing

Looks pretty sharp and detailed to me David.

Good luck with the new camera.

thanks Richard. i primarily bought this camera just for the planets and moon but it also allows a sneaky peek at the deep stuff to, but you need to have a different mentality to get the bugger working. the sucker hole in the high cloud last night did just that.:D

that's all post processing, but getting it to work in the first place was an interesting venture

These are great grab and go cameras and very sensitive. With a fisheye lens you get a great meteor cam.

making these up with close shots to make a mosaic is the key. must learn to do better

really - that sounds great. question how do you capture it or only watching the screen?

I don't know what software you use but if you can Bin the image it can be very sensitive. I would see if you can do 30min sequences at 4fps .

The GstarEx3 takes great Jupiter images. Those small pixels really show well on the moon.
