Interesting new product coming out from Ioptron ........

http://www.ioptron.com/product-p/8037.htm

Designed for their new large centre balanced mounts but looks like it will be available separately . Nice payload capacity and price range, maybe a nice alternative to the more expensive options from ATS,AP and SB. Pity about the cherry red legs

Looks like $US899

Probably in the same range as others like it.

Looks like they've taken a leaf out of the EQ8 pier design. The extra locking nut holes in the sides are an improvement on that one though. Looks pretty good.

Looks interesting. Definitely cheaper than Eagle Pier (US$1650), but we all know (or have heard of) AP's attention to detail.

However, at this price a proven Berlebach Planet might be a better alternative (and perhaps slightly cheaper with a mounting for iOptron); with double clamps Planet also has 160 kg payload capacity. And the Planet does not come with red legs ;)

Berlebach IS cheaper for the Planet. When I pre-ordered a Planet recently, it was $853 AUS posted. (cancelled when I got the Stainless Mammoth from Matt). Hard to beat that, considering the quality and load capacity.

But it is an interesting option.

The Planet also weighs less, and I think I agree - looks better. Looking at the order form, the extra cost for an adapter for an ioptron mount is 0 (although CEM120 isn't listed yet), so it makes it much cheaper too. They're in the same range for "folded" size, although I suspect the Planet might have slight edge to be easier to carry around.

The Berlebach planet is great, although I find the leg tensioners and clamps can be a worry with mount/camera cables getting caught.

Made some enquires with Ioptron ( quick return replies) , they may able to fabricate an adapter for a specific mount , the tripier comes with a flat top steel plate 210mm x 210mm

That's several hundred cheaper than ordering directly from Berlebach. This better price is from TS I assume?

Some customer pics of the Ioptron 360 pier on this Cloudy nights thread (https://www.cloudynights.com/topic/613638-unboxing-cem120-singapore/#entry8505445)..... looks good despite the red legs.
Would like to see a safety cap on the end of the bolted feet, looks like a hazard.

Yes Suavi, from TS. VERY good price, and a LOT cheaper than the local dealer

And MUCH cheaper than what I paid ordering directly from Berlebach in Germany. Never mind, Planet is a keeper so I won’t be buying another one anyway.
