Hi all,
I am thinking of getting one of these Skywatcher 120x600 BK 1206 and mounting it on my HEQ6 mount. I have a 300mm f5 skywatcher BD Newt but it is too big and I want something smaller for a bit of observing and some astrophotography that I can setup myself.
My other option is to get a smaller NEWT like a 6" ot 8".
PS anyone want to by a 300mm f5 skywatcher BD Newt ;-)
Cheers
Greg

Another option is a medium sized SCT... 8”, 9.25”/10”, 11” all weigh less than your EQ6...
Skywatcher also have a 150mm of the BD series coming in the new year ;)

im confused, do you have a heq5 or an eq6, two totally different mounts. with the eq6 300mm should be perfectly fine. with an heq5 however is another story.

Tony, a 300mm can be a bit unwieldy for the faint of heart (me included!)
Also, newts behave like a sail, so on all but nights with the lightest wind, they can be a challenge.

And the whole sale issue with the 300mm is part of the problem and it's lack of portabillity for a sole operation.
It is currently mounted on a HEQ6 which does a reasonable job until light breeze...

I suppose youd need some wind shielding aha. Still not sure which mount you have though, do you have a NEQ6 or a HEQ5? I don't think there is a HEQ6 (please correct me if I'm wrong)

Sorry wrong letters...the mount is a NEQ6 PRO.
