Finally managed a picture been a while.
This is NGC 1269 or also known as NGC 1291 (was Double cataloged).
A Ring Galaxy 33 million light-years away in the constellation Eridanus.

really struggled with gradients trying to stretch background to get detail while also trying to get a good blackpoint.

6.8 hours over 2 nights in LRGB could have done with more data to bring out those faint tiny dusty lanes.

I really like the faint dust detail in near the core. Nicely done Michael.

Wonderful sharpness and clarity. Beautifully processed. Lots of background galaxies shown clearly. A proper photo.

Hi Michael,
That's a great picture of a dim target.
Possible improvements? -I think the black point is set a bit low.

cheers

Perhaps, but when I have a look at a highly magnified histogram using GoodLook, the black point is either exactly right, or within half a black cat's whisker of being right - hard to tell on an 8 bit JPEG. No important information has been lost.

Best,
Mike

Hi Mike,
OK -
I checked it in Photoshop & when I stretched it again
use HDR toning - 16 bit - the galaxy comes out much larger &
the background is not as black as coal.

cheers
Allan
