For sale is this scope; tripod; and eyepieces.
Suitable for a beginner. This is my young teenage son's scope and I'm selling it on his behalf. He's used it four or five times under supervision and the rest of the time it's sat ignored in a clean study for about five years.
The scope and tripod are in good condition. In my humble opinion it is a good scope for the price.
80mm objective and 400 mm focal length (f/5). It comes with original user guide; manual and a couple of eyepieces; x2 barlow; and extender tube.
Why pay twice the price from the shops?
It has a good sturdy tripod (with a generous tray)
It uses friction coarse head movement and twist controls for fine movement .
Would suit combination of terrestrial and beginner astronomy.
Canberra area pickup. I will drive a short distance from Canberra metro area.
To demonstrate the optics see attached image: unguided 20 minutes total exposure. However, please don't buy this thinking that you're getting an imaging train. It is what it is. I would buy it again for my young kids - especially at this price :).
<Disclosure note: just sold it last week and the buyer returned it a couple of days later saying that the optics weren't up to his expectations. So, I've since used it myself for astro and terrestrial; evaluated it; and took the attached picture to demonstrate that the optics are up to my expectations for a scope of this price. You are invited to my place to view the optics for yourself. The scope is currently loaded on the permanent pier in the observatory awaiting your viewing pleasure.>
