Maybe I can save some aggravation for others who buy the Starseek WiFi v2 with the intent of using it with a Skywatcher Synscan system.
An interface cable is required to go between the WiFi unit and the Synscan hand controller. Being adept at electronic circuitry, cables and connectors I opted to build my own. Initially I searched the web and quickly found a serial interface pinout that looked like it would do the trick. With the right buzzwords..... Starseek, DB9 to RJ11 interface cable. I wired it up accordingly and to my dismay... it didn't work.
After quite some more searching if finally found a site that advised that different cables were required for different mount types.
http://www.skysafariastronomy.com/products/skyfi/serial.html
Although a little confusing at first, this does give the required pinouts for the various mount brands - including my Synscan.
I re-wired the cable to this configuration and it works fine.
Cheers
