Anyone know how to release stuck apature blades

Hi Guys i will put this out there to anyone who knows a way to release a stuck shutter on a Canon 70-200mm lens.
it is stuck at the smallest opening about F32 i reckon, any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Or do i just throw it down the stairs and hope for the best. :lol:

PS, I have to admit this lens has had some mishaps over time.

Once it rolled off the table and fell to the floor, Camera attached, no damage.

Then it slide off the tripod some months later in Darwin and hit the concrete at 1.5 meters, also attached to the camera. :scared:

Although some marks it worked perfectly, hence maybe the loose screws that i tried to fix and really stuffed it now :sad: :shrug:

Send it to a good camera service shop, there are a couple in Sydney. Try ringing a few in Melb. They have the tools and skills to fix it.likely its just a bent blade jamming.

and while they are at it get them to adjust for any front/back focus issues so its calibrated to your camera.

diy lens repairs do more damage than good, sticky blades people often open and oil which is just wrong, that ends up gluing them stuck in time. just get it fixed, or replaced. xmas upgrade time? ;)

Yer I reckon you guys are right time for an up grade, don't suppose anyone is in the market for a good stuffed up Canon 70-200mm F/2.8. :lol: :lol:

Several taps on the blade iris with a small jewelers hammer.

If that doesn't work, try a small sledge hammer ;)

Take the pretty lens off the front and gi e it to your grandson so he can experiment with fryi g ants.

After everything it’s been through, maybe it just needs to be dropped onto concrete again from hip height.
