My apologies for the quality. I didn't even know this was occurring while we were up there, and I didn't take the appropriate gear with me. Had to improvise with my TMB92SS refractor and 5DII in video mode with an EOS adapter kindly loaned by Cosmoparadise/Nick.

Aside from that, I've never attempted anything like this before. When focusing and checking exposure beforehand, everything looked fine. But when clicking record video, the exposure went from where I wanted it (crescent moon correctly exposed, hopefully ISS get some detail) to crescent blown out, ISS blown, earthshine showing but noisy. Just inexperience recording video with 5DII.

And then there's the editing - not sure how to cut it down to just the transit without the dead time beginning and end. Anywho....

I am pretty stoked to have captured it. Has been on bucket list, and now can tick it off.

Here's the video for what it's worth. (https://www.flickr.com/photos/troypiggo/36686742972/)

Nice one Troy :) If anyone else caught this at astrofest please let me know. I'm trying to compile all the shots together for the mass-shooting of this from one location !

I agree with Bob, you certainly captured it! For the first 10s I was wondering if I'd missed it and then it came into frame and I KNEW I hadn't

I know Tony and Anna-Louise were shooting it. Sure there were others.

Thanks mate.

Sure can't miss it - totally blown out :)

Haha. That's only because I have no idea how to edit vids. :(

That's solar eclipses, not lunar transits :)

If I could edit vids, I'll knock you up a greenified version.

Nicely caught, Troy! Always a great feeling to add another tick on the list.
We caught it as well both in video and stills. We drove 11km to Mansfield to catch the transit path.

Great capture Troy. You say you've never attempted anything like this before but I thought you were responsible for the ET solar transit image some years ago?
