Photo Challenge
05-08-2017, 12:08 PM
The topic this month is: ... "Something with wings"

This sounds tailor made for one of our newer contributors. ;)
Plenty of scope for the rest of us too, so let your creative side fly.

This thread is only for posting your entry along with any comments you'd like to make about your own photo.
If you would like to comment on other people's entries, or have any "other" shots of your own, then please use the Comments and Rejects Thread -> HERE (http://www.iceinspace.com.au/forum/showthread.php?t=159852).

Remember the Rules:
* one entry (just one image) per person and
* the image must be your own work.
* all other normal forum rules, and image size limits, apply.

The image doesn't necessarily have to be taken this month, but in the spirit of the challenge, we do encourage it, so you get out and get into it and enjoy the challenge.

The winner of the public vote, which will be run at the end of the month, will get to choose next month's topic and have their photo added to our "Photo Challenge Hall of Fame" thread.

Good Luck!

I'll kick it off with this one of a duck at Bell's Parade, Latrobe, Tasmania.

This guy is lurking next to the EastLink Freeway, it took four shots at 14mm on a full frame camera to fit him in.

This was already posted recently in the terrestrial section. I don't
know if that is o.k., and yes, butterflies are difficult to photograph.

This is a kite (I think;) - I don't have a book to check while I'm stranded in Barcaldine) waiting for either wind or thermals to get up.

I Spotted this White Faced Heron on a walk around the water last Saturday morning 12/8/17.
It was quite obliging and stood still for a photo or two.

Taken on my phone whilst walking dogs at the lake. Reeds on the left spoil the picture, could crop the picture, maybe later.

Taken today down by Wyong River.

Tried hard to capture that massive wingspan, but had to settle for this for now

Just a photo, but this guy came to visit when my son and I were fishing on the jetty a few weeks back.

I found this patch of insectivorous Sundew plants on a mossy patch of ground in rural Western Australia yesterday. Look closely at those dark specks stuck to the fronds. Wings

Had plenty of birds but thought this might be a bit different.

This fellow was sitting on a dead branch just outside our door. Shot with the same gear I shoot my astro-photography pictures. I admit it was taken a month or so ago but it is my best shot yet.

My entry for the month.

This pair of Owls were sitting no more than a metre above me and were so well camouflaged with the bark I hardly noticed them.

Cant tell you the type, I'm not very good with the different species. :)

I had a fantastic and very memorable experience with a pair of Barking Owls in the Kimberly a couple of months ago. They landed on my tripod which was there to hold my off camera flash.

Cheers Reverend.

Some wonderful entries this month. The weather has been too cold, grey and wet to encourage photography here this month, but I finally got a splash of early morning sun a couple of days ago. High ISO so it's very grainy, but then it was multi-grain bread that it was pinching, so maybe that's OK.... ;)

Who stole the bread?

The entries this month are so incredible, oh my lordy, voting is going to be very tough.

Wings- both man-made and natural.
Iron Maiden's tour plane landing at Brisbane Airport, R01 ops, May 2016.
So metal and badass- the lead singer is piloting this Boeing 747, and the plane known as the beast (its flight no. 666) was escorted to the runway by Satan's crow of death- carrying a carcass .
