Hi all

Attached is an image of Jupiter taken on the 21st May at 11:09UT in poor seeing.
GSO RC14+2x Barlow + ASI 290MM + Astronomik IIc RGB filters
Best 40% of 55sec captures in RG&B selected & stacked with AutoStakkert 2 and RL Deconvolution. De-rotated and assembled in WinJupos.

Nice shot. Is it just me or does Jupiter's cloud details look a bit more "complex" than they used to?

That's a nice shot for poor seeing Maurice

The clouds certainly look more turbulent trailing the GRS this year compared to last.

Thanks Richard...
I hope that Jupiter's cloud details look more 'complex' because our hardware, software & techniques are improving with time... :)

Thanks Dunk

Cheers Bob.

Hi Maurice, yes i tried to get some Jupiter video from Melbourne on that night too. The seeing seemed ok but it turned out it was poor! You have done well to get some useable shots with the RC14. Cheers

A great image of Jupiter, even in poor seeing :eyepop:...ah, we live in good imaging times ...wonder what will possible in the years to come..? :)

Thank you Mike..

Yes, I remember the (bad) old days, in the early 90's, when I struggled with a homemade 'cookbook' camera to barely capture 1 frame/sec & then manually sort through the lot for the best 10 to 20 frames for stacking and processing.

Then came the webcam 'revolution' which changed the playing field.

Then came IRIS software which semi-automated things

Then came registax which made things a whole lot simpler in the processing department.

Then came better/faster cameras....

Then came AutoStakkert.... and it goes on...

I agree that we live in good imaging times...

Just looking for some really affordable, true adaptive optics next........ :)

Cheers
