Do you need to periodically treat the wooden legs to preserve the wood? Oil or Wax?

Don't forget the annual ' termite ' treatment ;)

Hans just a wipe down now and then with a soft damp cloth to get the dust off. Maybe every 10 or 15 years you could do a light sanding and a couple of coats of satin varnish if you wanted to refresh the look, really it would be just cosmetic. The wood will not degrade with normal use unless it is left in the sun and/or rain for long periods.

I would oil it - they were treated originally with oil. I wouldn't sand, as these are stained, so unless you restain, you'll make it look carp.

I use Feast and Watson Rubbing Oil for the most part on previously finished wood. It has Tung Oil and Wax, which polishes up nicely without looking gawdy gloss. I also make my own with linseed and pure bee's wax - forms a paste, and refreshes wood nicely.

Or, find a bottle of Howard's Feed N Wax - orange oil with wax. Great stuff too.
