Hi All
I have a William Optics 80ED scope and a set of Meade 4000 SP eyepieces, I use the scope for general viewing and I was wondering if it is worth buying better eyepieces such as William Optics SWAN or Meade 4000 SWA, would I gain much other than a wider field of view and which one I should go for?

really depends on what you want and the $$$$$$ you have. I have an eclectic mix of naglers and meade series 5000 's. Depends on what quality your eyes;) like!

Hi,
I dont consider the WO SWAN and the Meade S4000 SWA much of an upgrade over anything. You can do a lot better than either of those in the 80mm/F6 Megrez, for similar money.
Obviously, the more you spend the better the eyepieces get, but less proportionally so as you spend more. In terms of "Value for Money" the Orion Stratus/Baader Hyperion are hard to beat for less than $200 each. Then again they still come up a good bit short of $400 plus eyepieces.
How much do you plan to spend, in total ?

Houghy, what series 5000 EP's do you have, I'm thinking of the 24mm SWA, do you have that or have you heard any feedback on this EP?
Stick with the meades UWA eyepieces. I have the 24mm UWA, and its very well corrected for scopes with fast f ratios too.
I use it on my f4.5 Newt and the f8 and f10 SCT's.
