Well i just out layed "an ungodly sum" (rephrased by janoskiss) for an Ultima x2 Barlow and Lumicon deep sky filter from My Astro Shop (which i must say delivered in good time and securely packaged - only took me 20 minutes to unwrap the bubble plastic stuff) ----- now i see that it's overcast!! soooo.... two bottles of wine (shared with the missus) later and its STILL overcast........ hopefully it'll improve for the weekend and i'll see if the money has been well spent......
