That's a rubbish scope! I can image a 16th mag asteroid in half a second with my 14" f2.

It looks similar in design to the Riccardi Honders, a corrector plate, a secondary mirror and a corrector.

I doubt its $75K though. The AP RHA is $20,500 and almost certainly the better instrument. TEC are good but they are no AP.

F1.44 would be a nightmare with tilt/tip. Also collimation unless everything is fixed like the AP RHA (I think the Officina Stellare Honders require collimation) would be extremely difficult if not impossible.

But if its set in the factory then that would handle that. Lightweight cameras only I would think, any flex would show up like crazy.

F1.44 is the prize though if it all worked. 425mm focal length though for me is too wide but I can see in the example shown it would suit comet hunters or asteroid hunters really well.

But with those long exposures, I could cover much more sky in a fraction of the time. I think they would have to build a hell of a business case to convince me that that thing was a good idea :rofl:

I found a mention of price on a thread on CN but as it isn't advertised anywhere it is hard to get confirmation.

I imagine one of the big benefits of this TEC over a Hyperstar SCT is the corrected and fully illuminated field. The Hyperstar I believe has a 27mm field where as this is designed for the 16803. I would imagine that the TEC would also have better off-axis correction.

The specs state that it is 41Kg in weight, the tube must be made of depleted uranium or something.

With two mirror and 5 lens', that's a fair bit of glass in a 12" telescope.
