Been thinking lately about making the move over to a refractor.

Have been doing a lot of looking at William Optics gear and just spotted their new scope being advertised.

Looks very nice

Mmmm. Nice scope. F/7 at almost 1m focal length. Very good for photography I'd expect. Looks like it has the full rotating focuser fitout of the FLT110 which would be nice.

Been thinking the same at times. Collimation and travel fragility are just plain PITA with Newts and SCT's. I have that 80mm Meade refractor being used as a guide scope, and I have to say that it's not bad at all to look through. At f/11 it's pretty slow, but a good William Optics or Tak would be just luvverly.

That is very nice matt!

I remember looking through Stu and Exfdos' tak's at Snake valley earlier in the year. Saturn was lovely!

Look, in my mind a good refractor is a must in any serious astronomers arsenal. Go the SCT or Reflector, but pair that with a great refractor. Guiding and then those great wider fields of M45 or M42 for imaging.

Totally agree! If this scope is of the same quality as the ZS110 I have, it will be well worth the money.

matt,

You might want to speak to Louie (atalas); he has a couple of William Optics refractors.
