I have a 2" filter wheel with 5 2" baader filters but I have the remaining 2 filters in 36mm form. Given that I am only really keen on imaging a couple of nb objects I was wondering if there was some sort of adapter that can take my 36 mm filters and fit them into the fli cfw2-7. It is for an 8300 so the size is fine. Maybe I need something 3D printed

Hi Aiden,

A 3D printer would be the go, but how are the filters held in place? If they are meant to be screwed in then forget about 3D printing as you will never get the threads fine enough.
A 3D printed adapter would work if you can use 3 small Tabs 120 degrees apart along the edge to hold them in place.

Regards
Bill

the FLI FW has a ring that threads in on top of the filter so i could 3d print a sandwich style spacer that holds the 36 mm filters then goes into the 2" FW, then the fin locks it all together ...

First up, I must apologise for spelling your name wrong.

A sandwich style of spacer adapter would be OK from what you describe.

Do you have access to a printer, it may be a bit of trial and error getting the correct thickness.
I know with my printer the ABS filament shrinks as it cools down. If I tell it to print a 50mm wide tube I get 49.5mm so I when I design stuff I have to make it slightly larger to get the correct size. Pain in the neck actually.

Cheers
Bill

P.S. It was good to read that your scope was OK after the dovetail slipped.

Don't worry about it Bill, you are not the first person to spell it that way and you wont be the last, i barely notice anymore :) i don't have a printer myself, just thinking out loud
