Hey Peoples.
New to Astro and first time post :) (go easy haha)

Got myself a Vixen Polarie a month and a 1/2 ago.
I have a canon 6d with a 200mm 2.8 tamron and a tamron 2x.
Over the last month Ive been trying to teach my self how to align it.
Im to the point I think I need a geared head to get the fine adjustments. So far my best is 2mins @400mm.

So the picture below is my evolution over the last month. I only get out every-now and again as work gets in the way.

These where all taken in Coolum beach so im looking forward to getting out to some nice dark skies.

Im still learning editing astro so go easy :)

Thanks
Jas

awe! beautiful! You must be sooo stoked!

2 mins exposure at 400mm? A-Ma-Zing! Didn't think that were possible with a Polarie.
Which tripod model are you using exactly?

I am currently testing a Walimex/Samyang (and other names) 500mm 6.3 (http://www.amazon.com/BlueTech-Manual-Telephoto-Mirror-Digital/dp/B014I02IUM/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&qid=1456658600&sr=8-7&keywords=samyang+500+6.3).
(With a T2 adapter it fits on almost every camera model; mine is a Sony Nex-5N and I found the T2-Adapter by Kiwi-Foto being the one that finds the sweet focussing spot on the sensor. )

Ultimately, I would like to go Polarie, too, but so far am a bit reluctant because this lens offers no Image Stabilisation and is VERY hard to focus real tight.
So I wonder what the inevitable tracking movement of a Polarie would do to the focussing...
and what tripod would suffice, yet be portable and affordable...

Again, your images are super great! :)

How are you progressing? Get everything working?
