Milky Way over house

Took this back in 2015 however I forgot that I still had it in the archives. Details - 5x 30sec subs at ISO 6400 on a tripod, stitched together to form a panorama. The town sky glow took a little work to minimise during the processing however pretty happy with how it turned out.

Incredible to think that this gem passes over our heads each night :)

Evan that is a wonderful capture you give the milky way a scale that would surprise many people.
I often look at it and marvel when the center of the gallaxy is pretty well right above me.

Thanks Alex, I was a little surprised just how big the core shows up in relation to the size of the house. Happy to report that it's real, straight from the camera and no scale modifications took place :thumbsup:

I happily report I have been able to use it with pleasing results.
A friend who had no idea and as I suspected the houses enabled him to visualise better.
Because I took so many widefields and in a very dark location I am surprised what I see visually I think my eyes fine tuned somehow.
