Just For Your Information

11am 22.2.16
I send an email to Kyoei-Osaka, a Japanese equipment supplier enquiring about some K-Astec tube rings for my new Tak.

3pm 22.2.16
I received a reply from the General Manager of the firm with full pricing, availability, freight costs and a proforma invoice which even showed the payment options

12.30pm 23.2.16
I sent payment by PayPal to Sakabe-san.

5.30pm 23.2.16
Sakabe-san sent me an EMS tracking note showing the items were posted an hour earlier

Perhaps some of the local retailers could take a leaf out of this book.....

Given that an Express parcel took three days from Sydney to Canberra, my money is still on EMS... but stranger things have happened....
;)

Is EMS postal or courier.

I ordered a Kson 1026 refractor from a supplier in Hong Kong. The money was cleared into their account on the Friday afternoon.

On the Monday there was a delivery of a large box to my office in Perth. I was absolutely speechless at the speed at which it arrived. Must have been a private jet and courier company.:eyepop:

EMS is an English Punk Rock band from the 1980's Ron :lol2:
No chance of beating the great Ozzie (Oi Oi Oi) postal service....or is there

Kunama
24-02-2016, 05:19 PM
EMS is Japan Post's Parcel Service.

astroron

So when it gets to Australia,it will go through Australia Post, that is unless it is directed to go through a courier service when it gets here.
Cheers:thumbsup:

My last one came by courier.

astroron
24-02-2016, 06:05 PM
Well that's why you would get them so quick.
Air and courier, cannot be beaten by a general postage system.

The parcel has now been in Australia for a couple of hours, no doubt it will linger in Customs for a few days before the Australia Post bullock team returns from their last trip to once again collect the sacks of mail form Sydeney.....

Still not too bad service wise, 47 hours from payment to landing in Australian Customs.....
I can almost see 'First Light' at the end of the journey... :D

So in fact it is not coming to you by Courier after all:question:
You cannot blame AP for customs delay.
I have usually got my stuff from OS quite quickly if it is Courier all the way,but then on most occasions it is more expensive freight wise, especially from the USA,China and Hong Kong definitely quicker and cheaper, usually postage/freight is included in the price and quite a lot of times is free or very little.
I not like a few AP knockers on here have no problems with AP, and I live in the country.;)
Cheers:thumbsup:

I doubt that anyone blames AP for Customs delays Ron and I think in general AP do a fair job, personally I prefer to use AP Express Post for anything astro as they items are less likely to go missing.

My original post was to indicate the difference in the way businesses here conduct themselves compared to someone like Kyoei-Os. I recently emailed a major local supplier about astro goods and four days later I received an email reply that did not address the enquiry. In the same time frame a Japanese business replied to my email, forwarded payment invoices, packed the items and posted them with enough time for them to get to Sydney.

So how did you eventually receive it,Australia Post,or Courier:question:
Cheers:thumbsup:

Kunama

According to the Aust Post, EMS items are treated as Express Post by AP.
I don't know how they get through Customs so quickly?

astroron
27-02-2016, 11:13 AM
So there ya go,should be no complaints about the Australia Post bullock cart picking up your parcel after all;)

Even a blind squirrel finds an acorn once in a while ..... ;)

Now if Aust Post could just find the missing Tak power lead, tripod tray, my hiking shoes, well then I might concede

Any company can lose things, a Big courier company lost my 16" mirror in a box with the dimension' of three quarters of a meter square.
Go figure?
