Mt Buffalo National Park, Australia. 7/02/2016

Spent a night out at my favorite place to sit and watch the world go by last weekend. I wanted to catch all the unaided eye planets and the rising central bulge of the Milky Way in the one panorama. With a crescent Moon rising on the horizon and slightly lighting up the landscape I had to work fast before the sky got too bright from the approaching dawn.

20 image panorama. Canon 6D, 24mm, F/2, ISO 6400, 15 second exposures.

Nice work Greg, yet to get out there this year and take some night shots :(

The rising moon light gives a look level of illumination to the foreground.

Are you using the canon, samyang or other 24mm? hows the comma at f/2?

2 rows of 10 in the pano?

Thank you very much Graeme and Matt :D

Hope you get a chance to get out there soon Matt. My nocturnal wanderings have been few and far between this year as well so far. Taken with the Sammy and yes it was two rows of ten. Coma is pretty darn good at F/2 on this lens. Certainly better than any other lens I have and better than Canons 24mm that I have seen. Gets even better at F/2.5 and 2.8
