Hi all,

Was able to put the New EQ6 onto the pier today and take a few happy snaps.

Here it is, 8" f6 Newtonian on an EQ6.

Looks great Andrew! Are you planning to get into some astrophotography now?

How much did the EQ6 cost?

Andrew Purchased the EQ6 Syntrek mount of me Mike.

It has a longer modified stainless steel weight shaft instead of the short mild steel plus an extra counter weight...only ever used once so it was like new.

Andrew can advertise the price if he wish's.

Yep I bought the EQ6 off Tony, for his advertised price. They sell brand new for between $1800 and $2000 depending on where you go.

Is that for the mount and tripod etc... or just the mount?

I've not seen many full units brand new for that price:shrug:

Nice set up Andrew.
I would be interested in your thoughts on how much more stable in the focusing it is on the pier compared to the standard tripod?
imo the tripod on these things is just ok for small tubes like sct etc.
But on bigger tubes its well so so.

LOL houghy

I will give a description of how it performs as soon as I can.

As for price Look at bintels page and look at Atlas EQ-G with dual axis controller, its the same thing.

I'd rather have the SkyWatcher EQ6 even if you think they are the same thing:whistle:

Anyhoo ... nice set up.

That'll be very nice to use:thumbsup:

It is a skywatcher EQ6 mount called a Skywatcher EQ6 Syntrek mount..it comes witht he skyscan motors and newer version hand controller but is not goto...you can buy the skyscan goto hand controller anytime and just plug it in.

The Atlas mounts are just supplied but a different supplier so they put there signature on the mounts....thats it.

May i ask why the pier is so high Andrew?
you do have to use a ladder don't you?

Yeah Geoff, I noticed it was high too, but the reason is, I plan on getting a c9.25 SCT one day and the height of the pier was adjusted for that. If I am using it with the newt, I will either use a ladder or throw in the toucam and do some imaging.

Nice set up Andrew. Looks impressive. Just add a guide scope and some cables and you will have created a monster. :)
