Hi All,
I am new to the forum and thought I would post a photo from the beginning of the Milky Way season. It is a 2 shot blend, one for the foreground and the second for the Milky Way itself.

I do hope it is ok :-)

Troy,

As a newbie around here, that is a great image. I am slowly building up the gear to get into astrophotography but i am impressed with what you have there.

I would like to know more. What equipment and process you have used here.

Andrew.

Thanks Andrew For this shot I tried two exposures one with light painting for the foreground and the second was strictly for the Milky Way itself. Off the topmof my head the settings would have been as follows: Canon 70D using the 10-22mm lens, 10mm f3.5, 25 second exposure and that was for the milkyway, the foreground was similar but I homestly cant remember but I also used an old torch to lighten the foreground.

For editing, I just edited the 2 shots for each section I was after (milky way for one and fg for the other) then just used layers and masks in PS to align and show what parts I wanted. I did take some time to do, but it was worth it.

I hope this is of some help for you?

Cheers
Troy

Troy,

Yes that does help me, thank you. I am just doing a lot of reading to get my head around the process/exposure etc. It can also be great to know the settings for a particular photo to be able to use as a guide.

Andrew.

Glad I could be of some help Andrew :-)

Thank you Peter, The blend was tedious but definitely worth it, and thank you for your kind words about my flickr account photos as well :-)
