Hi folks, I have a TAK baby Q 85mm which is currently with a CAA + Ca35 and wide angle T mount to Canon.

I would like to connect my FLI camera with SX OAG+ filter wheel. The OAG has one side T mount and the other side a standard SCT thread.
is there an off the shelf connector in Australia available ? Or do I need to go to OPT or Precise Parts?
Cheers
Graham

Graham,

I take it you are connecting the ML8300 with the FLI-standard 2" SCT to the SX filterwheel, and then the SX filter wheel connects to the drawtube via an M42 T2 thread? If you cannot connect the T2 to the CAA (forget the CA-35) now, it is a simple adapter to go from T2 female to Tak M72 - just a small custom adapter.

I have an astro-mate up here in QLD that makes my adapters and he is back in the game again, making me a specific FSQ-106 adapter.

Show me your connections as is in a picture, and I can easily draw up a CAD adapter and he will make it a fair chunk of change cheaper than Precise Parts. Won't be anodised, but I can easily blacken the inside for you.

Let me know - you'll save a LOT over PP!

Cheers Lewis- i don't what the thread is on the CAA so I haven't tried as yet connecting anything But I remember with the FS 60 I used to have the adapters being a PITA. It would need the adaptor T thread to CAA then as this seems to be the sensible way to go.
I will take some shots
Cheers

The CAA on the FSQ-85 is M72x1 - a thread only used by one other telescope maker these days - Officina Stellare (who's adapters cost even MORe than Tak)

OK, if you go CAA to SX FW, it SHOULD be an M72x1 female thread on the CAA, meaning the adapter would need an M72x1 MALE thread, and the SX should have a FEMALE M42 thread, meaning the adapter would need a MALE thread.

So, M72x1 MALE to M42 MALE. Easy.

Just check for me the FSQ-85 CAA has a FEMALE thread, as some CAA's have a MALE thread :) (Tak, gotta love 'em!)

It would look like this - Tak big side, SX smaller.

That would be a Feldstein #4 adapter, very excy from the USA.

True, that is why I get 'em made here for MUCH less :)

Oh, reckon he can make an adapter for me? I'm after CAA to STL adapter. As thin as possibly can be!

Simple. Just let me know.

That'd be M92 FEMALE on one end and STL the other - remind me what STL thread is though - it's 54.5mm or something odd.

2.156"mm -> 54.7624mm -> ~54.8mm.

Let me know how much?

As thin as is possible, please.

Cheers, mate.
