Hi, I am upgrading from an Orion manual filter wheel to a motorized one and as Orion have gone out of the 2" field I now have to look elsewhere and have come up with a XAGL wheel which takes M48 x 0.75 filter threads. My question is do the Orion 2" filters have this thread size, I know that they are M48 but I am not sure of the pitch and Orion don't seem to be able to answer my question. I know that they do not fit some of the Chinese wheels which are also M48. Can anybody out there give me this information.
Thank you
Ray.........

Hi Ray

Just noticed your question, I have an Orion 2" Skyglow filter and it has the standard 48mm x 0.75 pitch thread. Can't see why any of their other 2" filters would be any different.

All of the Orion 2" filters are 48mm x .75mm pitch.

My set of Orion 2" LRGB filters were made in Korea and definitely are not the standard M48 x 0.75 thread, they screw about half way in and then jam. I am thinking that they have an M48 x 0.5 thread.............

Hi Ray,

The reason they don't screw all the way in is because of slight differences in machining tolerances and specs and the thickness of the anodising. On some (not many) female threaded accessories they will screw all the way in.
