In honour of New Horizons historic flyby of Pluto this month, this brilliant interactive space book for iPad is FREE for THIS WEEKEND ONLY from Brightpips.
Demo/ more information and download link is here: http://www.brightpips.com/books/space/

The demo had me hooked; I managed to learn some cool stuff very quickly. It's targeted for ages 8-80, so it's very easy to understand.
So if you have an iPad, iPhone or Mac, go take a look.
If you have kids who want to learn about space, now yours chance!

The book features interactive widgets explaining planet sizes, the vast range of temperatures on Mercury, the layers of Earth’s atmosphere, Moon phases, the Moon landings, the moons of Jupiter and Saturn, the life cycle of stars, and the scale of the Universe. It also features over 100 detailed popups covering the whole Solar System, stars, the Universe, and living in space. The whole book contains over 300 stunning high-resolution images as well as engaging video.

Lucky for people that have an iPad. Me.... I'm not one of those so I had to be content with the demo:tasdevil:.
Okay, I half lied  .
We do have an iPad but hubby refuses to put anything from iTunes on it so go figure, I even lost the good fight trying get with Sky Safari put on:argue: . Lucky I have my iPod and i-Tunes computer to myself :fight:
Guess I'll just be content playing it with my 8 year old cousin who has one and loves astronomy.

Thanks for the tip, Suzy, I'll check it out.

Then what pray tell does he have on the iPad, only the iOS built-in apps?? That would seem like an awful waste. Apps like BBC/Cox's Wonders or Theodore Gray's The Elements are enough reason to buy an iPad, not to mention Sky Safari...

No idea Steffan. His iPad doesn't inspire me to have ever picked it up and taken a look .
He got it for nothing through his work.

I've just been reading/clicking through this on my iPhone with my daughter who was rapt to see the 4th largest moon of Uranus that shares her name. Thanks for the great tip!

Suzy, thanks for the heads up on this. We downloaded this last night and the wife has been reading this intently through today. She has highlighted certain parts to me, now i just have to get my ipad back so that I can read them.
