STL to EOS adapter

Hi all,

Wanting to use some EOS mount lenses on my STL camera, I came across this one http://www.tan14.com/Others.htm (http://www.tan14.com/Others.htm)down the bottom of the page. Has anyone used this before, it should work right?

Yes I have one of these. I suspect it slightly increases the distance to the focal plane. You should be able to reach focus with most lenses, but the results might not be perfect.
Obviously you will need to control the aperture manually as well.

I guess this is a question for the distributor, but the flange focal distance of canon EF lenses and Sigma SA mount lenses is 44mm (which are the 2 lenses I want to use), so this adapter should extend the lens bayonet mount this far out from the STL chip and all should work well, have you not found this to be the case?

I was being deliberately vague. I guess I won't get away with that. Check these out:

From the PDF A=1.559 - 0.275 inch = 32.16mm
From the pic = 13.8mm
Total=45.96 mm which is too much

It will/might work, but the lens won't be operating at the ideal distance to the focal plane.

Thanks for measuring the adapter for me James :thumbsup:. Measurement A includes the width of the accessory mounting surface, this needs to be removed I'm sure(without going to my observatory) before the adapter is bolted on. It describes this in the bellow link.

So (using the optical focal plane as the back focus of the camera) we have:
(37.338mm) - (6.985mm - accessory mounting plate) = 30.353mm + 13.8mm = 44.153mm that seams all right to me.

Any how, I got it to reach focus with my lens. If I can find an example image I will post.

Yep, I bought one of these several years ago. I did some widefield testing with the Canon EF 200mm f/2.8L II USM and it worked beautifully.
