From the Open Directory Project a list of 211 manufacturers of astronomical equipment and products (http://dmoz.org/Science/Astronomy/Business/Telescopes,_Binoculars_and_Accessor ies/Manufacturers/)

Paul why don't you do some research and ring each and every one of them, and find out how much shipping is to Australia? ;)

Good list, ta!

That is titled 'Manufacturers' list.

Guan Sheng and Synta aren't even on the list and they manufacture heaps of the brands that are on there!

It seems more like a list of dealers, and re-branded goods.

Still a very handy list thanks Paul

The Cloudy Nights site has a useful (long) list of sponsors and Sky & Telescope has a list of advertisers, both worth trawling if you are looking for something. And don't dismiss BHPhoto or Adorama, you'd be amazed what turns up there.

Why bother with chinese imports when you can get stuff dome here better?

There is a guy in Qld that makes top quality piers. Brendan Downs apparently just got a custom one done for his new Paramount ME and looking at the photos, the whole setup looks mickey mouse. :eyepop:

Another interesting alt-az mount - the T-Rex from
http://www.kkohki.com/English/T-REXmount.html
Slow motion controls, tripod and encoders included.
All up a tad over $2k + GST, shipped to oz, which makes an interesting comparison with the Half Hitch Mk III.

Any chance for an update to that list? It's nearly five years down the track, no doubt things have changed since those old and archaic days of 2019
