Hi all (yes, me again)

:help:Have borrowed a telescope from Uni as to get a head start on my assignment due to poor visibility BUT...............

The tracking speed seems so far out of wack the object can't keep up with the scope, or is that the Earth can't keep up with the scope!? Uh anyway.

Previous posts mention a 50 vs 60hz control box but I don't have the luxury to change it so I have downloaded the manual and wonder if I could give the old girl some love and tweak a few things.

My question - The manual mentions 50 degrees alt lat (which is 31 for me here in South) but what/why is the 25 degrees mentioned in 3) ? Is it a typo should that be the same degrees?

R.A. MOTOR INSTALLATION
1) Turn the altitude adjustment knob until the latitude
scale indicates 50º.
2) Locate plastic box underneath R.A. axis. Unscrew
small phillips screw at bottom to remove box.
3) Turn the altitude adjustment knob until the latitude
scale indicates 25º.

:thanx:

Doesn't matter where you are, the ra rate is the same.

Thanks for the reply jenchris. Yes I understand the tracking rate would be the same as it's the Earths rotation.

I'm just seeking clarification as to why the manual has two degree measurments listed.

Thanks

I think you'll find that these instructions refer to the initial attachment of the motor unit. The 50 degree position must make access to an attachment bolt hole accessible . After the motor is attached all of this is irrelevant to the mounts operation. Since the motor is attached you need not worry about these instructions at all!
