Hi, I was wondering how do you guys clean your DSLR sensor? i read somewhere of using a cotton bud. Will this be safe? . I have tried using a hurricane blower but i can still see abit of dust from bright images eg: clouds.

You can cause problems using a cottonbud if you are not extremely careful and chances are you will make things worse. After blowing off what loose stuff you can the rest can often be brushed off with a special anti static brush. I use a gadget called an "arctic butterfly" and I am very pleased with the results. So far that is all I have needed to do. Do a google search for arctic butterfly and I'm sure you will also see the alternatives as well. Unfortunately I don't know of a cheaper solution, but its still cheaper than having your sensor cleaned by a camera shop.

I used a blower brush (it's actually a rectal syringe from the chemist), with good results. It got of all dust except 1 big spot, but the last one is near the edge and it's easy enough to clone out in PS.

I just took my camera to the Canon headquarters in North Ryde and they did it for free while I waited.

After seeing Brad Moore's flat frame yesterday which I may add that his scope is in prestine condition not a spec of dust to be seen.

Here is his current flats he is using....OMG

So going from this I wouldn't bother getting it cleaned unless you have some serious issues because as soon as it's clean you will probbaly find the same donuts on the sensor within a few weeks anyway.
