hi guys, a friend has invited me out to his farm out near nyngan next year and im trying to figure out the most safe and the most cost effective way of transporting my telescope.

equipment needed for transport:

Celestron c14 ( im definately going to buy a pelican case for the tube)
Losmandy g11 mount
eyepieces and imaging equipment already in cases (unsure if they are dust proof)

I've got a Pelican 1620 case for my G11 head. That's the smallest one it fits into. The standard Pelican foam is really not up to keeping it from moving so I don't put the counterweight bar or Gemini in with it. Besides, adding much more weight would take it over the senior citizen person safe working load. Somewhere like Clark Rubber would have a higher density foam you could get cut to shape, but I've never had a problem with the amount the head does move.

Maybe some bubble wrap to stop the tripod head and legs rattling around, and a padded box for the counterweights. A Craftright case from Bunnings/Masters/etc would do for the Gemini, cables and the rest of the odds and sods.

I have a custom made Wooden travel case for the G11 if you want to borrow it.
