Hi,

I have recently brought a Meade LX200GPS 10", with a Meade X-wedge equatorial mount. On first assembly the spreader bar that holds the tripod rigid and screws into the X-Wedge at the top of the tripod has snapped at the end.:eyepop:

I have searched web for a replacement to no avail, can anyone advise where I may be able to find a replacement part?:confused2:

Contact Bintel, they may be able to order a replacement.

Assuming that it is metal, could it not be welded?

I read elsewhere that Meade sells this item directly. Not sure if WE can get parts direct ex-Meade, but am sure Bintel can.

Seems a VERY common problem with these. Many decide to make their own instead.

Hi all,

Thank you so much for your responses, as requested Brian please find attached photo.

Raymo, you are right it is metal although looks quite soft metal and doesn't think will weld well or maintain it's integrity to perform.

Bintel have requested photo of tripod due to age so still not sure if this is a possible solution.

Will let you know outcome but appreciate any further advise regarding this issue.
