IceInSpace has just turned 10 years old!

Happy Birthday to the whole community!

From humble beginnings, it seems so long ago, September 2004, when IceInSpace was first born. We've come such a long way and grown so much, but I'm so proud of the community and how we continue to display the values, the ethics and the community spirit that made, and continues to make IceInSpace the best place on the internet.

Now with over 1 million posts, 120 thousand threads, and over 13 thousand members (a few thousand active at any one time), there's lots of information, advice, questions, discussions, images, fun, and good times that have been had over the past 10 years.

Social Media has certainly changed online communities; places like Facebook are great for instant interaction and instant news, as well as developing and discovering friendships. But they're terrible for long-term archives of information, searchability and sharing over time. The IceInSpace Forum continues to be just those things - with over 10 years of history that's searchable, you can be sure someone has asked that question before and you can find lots of advice with back and forth explanations, questions and discussions. You just can't get that in the instant 1-line comments of Facebook.

Thanks to the moderators and the community for continuing to be there to support each other and help our hobby grow.

Who knows how our hobby will change in the next 10 years - there's certainly been some amazing changes in the past 10 years, as the internet technology improves, camera technology, space missions deliver new and exciting information, we'll be there to talk about it and discuss it with hopefully a growing number of space enthusiasts.
