My new 'Astro' time lapse intervalometer has arrived. Can't wait to get out and try it. Looks nicely made and works a treat on the bench. I intend to use it in combination with my skytracker.

That's a very handy ' gadget ' for that purpose ......excellent product.
Did you have to import it ...?
Is it available from ' local ' Camera shops.... I watched the video ... impressive results and looks so easy..

It was a kickstarter campaign and I donated early. They have been learning the ropes about production (been there done that!!) and they have finally shipped the first units. At this stage they are only available on their site but I'm sure they have plans for distributors later.

Still patiently waiting for mine, though not holding my breath. Not very well managed, this Astro project, by the comments I see. And interestingly, even though many backers have yet to see theirs, the unit appears to be available retail in Japan:

Kick starter projects are often off to a rocky start, for obvious reasons :)

But man, what an utterly gorgeous gadget! I really wish for this to work as well as the video suggests. I'm not really into panning time-lapse photography, but with a tool like this I could be. Maybe I should earmark this as a future present for my son... ;)

Cheers
Steffen.

I got an email yesterday to confirm my shipping address, so I suspect mine is coming soon!

I would be interested in this as well. How long did it take to come through?
Please post up your results once you get a chance to use it.

Mine took a couple of weeks from when they confirmed my shipping details. The tracking was useless as well.

No decent test results yet. Just enough to say that it works as advertised. The IPhone app needs a lot of work! plain vanilla interface and no good confirmations of a successful transfer. Good in theory but lacking in execution. The unit allows you to combine it with different ball heads etc to get those 'special' angles. I'm happy that I got what I paid for.

This Is the Astro test video. It's only 120 frames or 4 minutes of pictures. At 30 FPS thats 3 seconds but you get the point. You may notice the clouds getting darker and I had to run inside as a squall came through 30 seconds after this vid. The rain pored down and wind blew over Karens archery targets!

Test of the ASTRO Intervalometer. NOT of my Lightroom skills :)

System worked as advertised and no problems encountered. ASTRO set to 1 pic every 5 seconds and rotate 90 degrees in 1 hour. 6D set to 4 sec exposure at ISO 1600. Different settings will of course result in different appearance.

It was a very slow delivery service it took about 2 weeks and the tracking number was useless.

Looks great Paul - thanks for posting the results

I made enquiries about the Alpine Labs Radian but it sounds like they are even further behind.

Does it continuous move or does it do Shoot, Move, Shoot? Video looks good, like near the end it's following the incoming cloud line..

ReaPerMan

Yep that's pretty much what it does. It automatically calculates how far to move for how many pics. I was impressed that even with the short interval difference (4sec expose 5 second move) that there was no problem with smearing and no missed moves. My only gripe is I still can't get the Iphone app to work properly. I've emailed them no answer yet. I would assume if it's a common problem then there will be an update coming.
