Hello All,

SkippySky has finally hopped into the world as an Android app.

The app can be downloaded from :-

www.skippysky.com.au/Mobile/SkippySkyMobile_v2.apk (http://www.skippysky.com.au/Mobile/SkippySkyMobile_v2.apk)

Usual disclaimer : If this app copulates with your phone, I don’t wanna know about it…

Of course, the web based version is still available at www.skippysky.com.au (http://www.skippysky.com.au)
and that can always be viewed in your phone's browser.

Some instructions on how to get the .apk file into phone

1. Use a browser on your phone to enter the URL above, and it should automatically be downloaded into your Downloads folder. Open your Downloads folder in your phone, tap the file and it should start the app installer, OR

2. 2.. On your computer, download the .apk file somewhere. Connect your phone to your computer, and drag the file to the Downloads folder of your phone. Tap the file, and it should start the app installer.

Cheers,

I'll have to give this a go sometime. Any chance of getting it on to the Google Play store?

Not anytime soon. Too many hoops to jump through.

To paraphrase PopEye, "It does what it does what it does..."

Be happy with that. ;-)

Hi Andrew,
Great app, but I was wondering if there is any way to save one's location with the app?
Having to re-select continent and then also area each time I change a map type gets tedious after a while.
Eg, going from Total Cloud to Transperency, must re-enter location, then again when moving to Seeing, and Jetstream and so on.

It would also be nice if the app would remember the time of the map you were looking at when changing to another map.
I've also noticed the app runs in portrait mode for viewing the maps, but rotates to landscape mode when prompted to make a selection from the menu, is there a way to override this? Android's orientation lock doesn't seem to work.

Sorry, sounds like a lot of criticism but it is a great app, just needs a bit of a polish

Edit:
Using it on a Nexus7 tablet(2013 edition) running KitKat 4.4.3

Cheers.
