What is the best, stickiest double sided tape? For sticking those small plastic cable holders to the metal on a mount.

Not really double sided tape, but I use hot melt glue for those jobs, sticks in 10 sec, but a little easier to remove.

3M make the best double sided tape, there are a lot of cheap brands around, none stick like the 3M stuff, the cheaper brands seem to soften and let go over time. If what you want to hold can be a little flexible you're better off with some adhesive backed velcro.

This stuff is very good:

Most of it is pretty good.

I built a plastic air deflector 12" by 30" x 1/4" thick to direct the air from a 1Hp centrifugal blower on to a plastic vacuum former cradle to reduce the cooling time and increase output.

As a temporary measure I used double sided tape to join pieces and settle on the best angle. I intended to make the job permanent when I had the right angle. I never got a "round tuit" and 10 years later the deflector was still in place held by the same double sided tape.

A generic polyolefin primer can help many tape adhesive formulations to stick better. It is also very good for ca adhesives (superglue).
Pressure by clamping or weights for about 1/2 hour will greatly increase bond strength - by a factor of 10 for some tapes.
Many anodized Al parts are waxed or oiled after steam sealing. Clean well first.

+1 for 3M tape.

Wood turners frequently use double-sided tape to hold objects while turning. My personal experience is that the tape will hold two objects together in spite of revolutions that exceed 5000 RPM's and lateral torque applied. You might want to check out this kind of tape, which is actually a high tensile strength fabric with industrial adhesives on both sides. Any good wood-working site will carry this type of double-sided tape for wood turners. Jim
