G'Day,
Not sure if this item may be useful for observing,I saw this item on Ebay a company called "Deals Direct" I've bought a few items from this mob over the past few years and found them very honest and reliable, the item is a stool that can be adjusted in height. Here is a link, worth a look.

My worries with these would be how stable are they on uneven ground. A stool with three legs will always be more stable than one with a disk contact with the ground, do they go low enough for a dob set at about 40 degrees from the horizon and, also they do not appear to fold down for transport.

After saying that, if you observe from a platform in your backyard and your scope is high enough then go for it.

Also OH&S - no back support! If you're along time in the field, something that helps your posture is great.

There is a version of a gas lift stool with a back rest I use as well as this

G'Day
I was thinking more for the backyard Astronomer :) and being in the process of building a Observatory I thought it would be good, and for the price under $50 incl del, also the Office Works stool has no back support either and just under $100 plus del or pick up. Not sure how it would go for a DOB it would depend on it's size. here are the details of the size of the stool, it would suite me as I have the Meade LX90 and ETX 125
Adjustable height
Maximum height is approximately 780mm
Minimum height is approximately 570mm
