On May 13, I produced a colour image of the full Moon, my second such attempt. My image is a composite of 76 separate smaller images which I assembled using AutoStitch. I then increased the saturation of the colours using Photoshop CS2. I have three images at varying sizes,

4.7 Mb at http://astroimg.org/colourlunar/ColourMay13PujicHigh.jpg (http://astroimg.org/colourlunar/ColourMay13PujicHigh.jpg)

Points of interest include

The blue colour of Aristillus versus the reddish colour of Archimedes
The red impact melt NW corner of Copernicus
The Lassell orange spot
The Telemann-Sharp formation boundary near Sinus Roris
The Serenity Tranquility mare boundary
The yellow central peak of Bullialdus
The reddish lava in Sinus Iridium
The dark blue mantle of the Taurus-Littrow valley

It is extremely difficult to produce these images with the "correct" colour balance. Despite being very careful to accurately preserve colour balance, I am still unhappy with the result but I will share it in its present condition. I hope it is an inspiration to people to try and produce high resolution colour images of the Moon.

Excellent image Zac - I think I remember seeing this on LPOD?

It's a very fine result, well worth the effort you put into it. Congrats.
