Hi, anyone come across Kenko telescopes. It appears that they are only sold in Japan, to the domestic market. But are they the OEM to one of the other brands, or are they just rebadged?

See this link (http://store.shopping.yahoo.co.jp/kyoei/kenko-se250ncr.html)as an example of a 10" Newtonian.

Here (http://www.kenko-tokina.co.jp/optics/tele_scope/sky_explorer/4961607491942.html) appears to be the company page. I am interested if they are not made in China or Taiwan. But some of the scopes on this page listed appears to be the Synta/GSO type families. Anyone with experience with these scopes?

The scope linked is a re-branded Synta telescope. You can tell by the focuser. Only Synta use that hideously designed crayford with multiple adapters.

I have brought Kenko photographic filters in the past, maybe the same company.

Yes, have come across the kendo stuff in the photographic world and they were reasonable... Not quite Top end, butretty reliable. Sounds like they are rebadging the Synta stuff. I did find a range they had which had three vermin newtonian.
