Which cable do I need to connect the Meade AutoStar to my ETX-90EC?

Just asking to make sure.

I was looking for RJ45's on Ebay but cant find any!

I want a curly one like my other hand controller.

Gday Stefan

You need a cable wired 1-8,2-7,3-6,4-5,5-4,6-3,7-2,8-1
ie if it was a flat cable, both connector tangs would be on the same side.

Ref attached piccy of how its wired
( ignore the tapping points bits, as thats for my use :D )

Gday Stefan

Dunno re ready made but there is a second option with cat5 patch cables.
Std cat 5 pins ar 1-1,2-2,3-3 so opposite the Meade layout.
However, there are also 8 wire "connectors" out thete that come in 2 flavours, straight through, or crossover.

By using the correct one, you can add a cat 5 extension to a Meade curvy cord, or join 2 cat 5 leads into one that "emulates" a Meade Hbx cable.
Just gotta use the right ones for the right job.
ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS do a continuity check if doing this,
as getting it wrong will put reverse polarity voltage into the Hbx.
If unsure, dont do it.

$33 is expensive for a cable! Was hoping around the $15 mark.

Thanks for the link though, I am more familiar with it now.

Actually I have a Meade DSI Pro and it has some cables in there that I may be able to use.

Will check when I get home.

You might find a $33 cable is the cheapest in the long run unless you have a few metres of 8 core flat and a supply of RJ45's as well as the crimping tool. I make lots of cables but the initial set up with a supply of cable, connectors and a decent crimping tool will set you back about $100
