What is everyone using for remote desktop software? I have been using Team Viewer but wondering if there is anything out there that might be better and I am getting sick of the nag at the end of using it, but costs a sqillion if you want a license.

Any info much appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

:thanx: :):)

Tight VNC for me. Got a free version for my tablet and watched scope focus on it at Astrofest from the warm spots :)

+ 1 for tight VNC, I downloaded it at Astrofest and had access on my iPad which was handy for alignment etc. I did have an issue with the ipad app not controlling tight VNC properly (no mouse) using the Real VNC access app. real VNC also have a free offering which has some of the facilities (e.g. file upload) missing.
The standard windows remote desktop also works nicely, you do need a user and password set on the remote machine and the screen wont be visible on a remote session (logged off) but otherwise RD works nicely.

+ another for Radmin. Desktop to either of 2 Laptops or Laptop to Laptop.

RealVNC - because it works as both server and viewer across all my possible platforms
Linux, MacOSX, IOS (iPad, iPhone), various Win flavours W95/W97/XP/Vista/W7 etc
Free unless you want the advanced features and then its not much anyway, plus it works with a few other VNC protocols

If you are on a LAN, plain old Windoze remote desktop works fine...

Used Remote Desktop from the work PC to my Mac and it worked fine.

Now using LogmeIn. Seems to be great - ftp transfers as well as the screen sharing too. No idea what it costs though!

Except that for any windows OS level below professional, you can't use that machine as the remote server, only the client.
Cheers,
Andrew.

Yup, that too. And it effectively has little to no support for OpenGL. Good OpenGL support is very important for TheSkyX users. Other than that, it's the bomb and I prefer it by far to everything else I've ever tried.

I am using TeamViewer, like you. I don't mind the ad at the end, given the whole application is slick, fully-functional, and free. The iPad control is what gets it over the line for me.

I use GoSupportNow remote support tool for remotely accessing computers. It is easy to use and costs only $19.95 / month, next to free.

If you can use a wireless connection then why not Splashtop Streamer?
It works for me from my Samsung Galaxy 2 tablet to a Windows 7 computer and is really easy to set up.
