Dear all,

Does anyone have the size/type for the main (centre) bolt for EQ6 mounts? I'm in the process of sorting out a pier mounting and Bunnings is a pain with everything sealed up if you don't know exactly what size you're after (same size as the central accessory tray stabilising bolt).

Any advice regarding how to get a decent head on it rather than a hex bolt head appreciated too.

Thanks in advance,
Rob

I think from memory and others may pitch in here the central bolt is a M12 bolt. If you cant get it at Bunnings then try United Fasteners there is one in QLD. http://www.unitedfasteners.com.au

I used an allen key type head on my EQ6, I tried looking for one with a knob on it but couldn't find one quickly.

Thanks Andrew
A knurled hex bolt is probably a good plan - better than getting a spanner in there. Will have to check it out.

Rob,
those eq6 pillar extensions have an M12 bolt with a ball bearing and a knob (like the tripod's rod knob) in the top. $80 though.

Thanks Robin

Did think about buying one of those at one stage, but don't really want to fork out that much just for a bolt....

You could also use the top as a pier head I guess. Depends on what you want.

I got an M12 bolt from bunnings here :)

Yes, did ponder that option but wasn't 100% sure if would work and Sirius was only open Sat morning. Ordered one of these, and very happy with what you get

Had talked about fabricating one, but the EQ6 has lot more surfaces the HEQ5 and a block of aluminium is surprisingly exxy actually. Billet parts one comes with nice centre post too, rather than having to swap the one off the tripod all the time.
