I have a ADD problem, it is triggered by highlighting a word (it highlights the word) and then offering ipads and other things .
It is called DropDownCoupons.
I read the instructions to remove it.
Two suggestions are put forward
1 go int tools ,find the add-on in Firefox add-ons and disable, it is not in there as an add-on.
2 go into control panel, to intall and remove programs but it is not in there either.
The only thing I can think of is that it has been installed when I have downloaded a program, and the only program I have downloaded is "spy bot 2".
Could the add program be installed with " Spy bot "2
I have tried to find the program in "Search program files using the title of the program " DropDownCoupons." and it said "not found"
Any suggestions would be appreciated :)
I have run CCleaner and virus checker and it is still there
Even popping up on this post twice when I decided to add more information
Thanks

Try:-
1 click on "Firefox" top left
2 select "add-ons"
3 select "extensions. If it is listed there click on the remove button.

Only other thing I can suggest is to un-install Firefox and re-install it.

Just a few ideas which worked for me recently.

Download the free version of Malwarebytes.
http://www.malwarebytes.org/

It will do a system scan, and should remove this sort of thing.

I think the free version gives you about 2 weeks of usage, so it should be ample for what you need to do.

Ron,

Have a look to see if there is a folder called

C:\Program Files\coupondropdown

if so there should be an executable

C:\Program Files\CouponDropDown\Uninstall.exe

Double click on that to run it

Also Malwarebytes is indeed said to pounce on it

When I'm faced with these type of things I usually just google "How to remove xxxxxxxxx" then wade through the crap till I find the answer. It can take a while but someone out there usually has a remedy.

I guess you could try adaware free, from lavasoft. This has always been a bit of a bulldog against malware.

I think the current one has an antivirus built in too. So it may pay to install, run and uninstall, so it doesn't interfere with the day to day running of your regular antivirus.

Failing this, you may need to edit your about:config page. Try Adaware first, I think.

That's irksome. What about this stuff, anything you've not been to yet?
