How to mount red dot finder onto Dslr hot shoe?

Hi,

Was wondering if anyone knows how to connect a basic red dot finder onto the hot shoe of a dslr for imaging at night?

I can remember once seeing a bar that went underneath the camera and stuck out the side so that larger flash units could be mounted to the side of the camera. The bar then attached to the tripod. rather like a cut down version of a side by side telescope mount. With one of these you would then mount the red dot finder to the side of the camera rather than the hot shoe.

Hot melt glue! Solves any problem.

Attached is an image of one that you could easily adapt a red dot finder to fit to it. They have many others.

I did it like in attachment.
This gives me the "grab 'n go" option.. everything always aligned properly.

I just cut down the curved base to the right size , it took some trial and error , good job for a rainy afternoon.

I made it from two 'L" aluminium profiles (Bunnings, Alcan..)
It has been improved over time.. I think this is more or less the final version ;)
