Mike's had enough, and has issued the mods with tanks!

Here's Sheeny out testing his new tank, I just happened to be driving through Oberon with, as my wife says, is my pap spec camera (5d2 and 70-200 2.8).

So everybody on their best behaviour, or sheeny will be coming around and showing some smooth bore barrelled love to any TOS offenders.

:P

That's me with the bad choice of hat... (i.e. wearing the tank commander's headset... and so I couldn't wear my hat as well).

Just relax... everyone's OK until my sunburn is better...:P

There is a swag strapped to the turret. I'd love to know where they were going and what they were up to.

I met some turret-head's at Shoal Water and they were having a competition to see who could stay in/on their tank the longest. It had been seven days and the crew hadn't put a foot on the ground. Just ponder that for a minute......

It's a tent and a tarp.

Its a 1942 Matilda Tank, so we were taking part in the Oberon Steam and Vintage Fair. Just driving out of the Heritage Railway grounds to put the tank on static display at the Footy Club.

No marathons attempted:).

Hi Brett,

What do you think of inserting this photo in the Wikipedia entry on the Matilda?

If you consent I'll insert it with Al's text. Along with the General Stuart, the Matilda was a valuable tank in AIF Pacific engagements after Kokoda.

Cheers

Hmm... if its going to Wikipedia I better check my facts! I was just sprouting from memory what I've always believed was the case, but its 20 something years since I first met the Matilda.

We are going tanking again today, so I'll check.;) Alternatively, I might be able to get the full spiel on her...

Maybe a mythbusters inspired chicken gun for rb's tank? He would have heaps of ammo....

Finally a little video of the tank in action for those who may be interested. Shaky camera work left in place for some good effect and otherwise:P.

lol i think you had a lot of nervous punter there

sheeny

 Maybe. I think the locals are pretty used to the tanks now, and the Matilda is only small compared to the Centurion, but no doubt its something unusual for visitors to town;).

Besides... no one has anything to worry about while we have the hatches open...:wink2:.

I've enquired and the copyright permissions info I supplied with the image was not good enough for them, so they just deleted it without notification.

Agh. Why bother?

I'll delete the caption now, so it is the Wiki entry that never was.

Sorry about that.
