Some of you may be interested in this as the first of three shows aired last night hosted by Brian Cox and Dara O' Briain which featured Brian May.
Naturally the UK weather was a washout which took a lot away from the live stargazing aspect but it was an interesting watch nevertheless.

Brian May has uploaded the first episode in two parts on his youtube channel.

Stargazing Live - Night 1

Hopefully he'll upload tonight and tomorrows episodes aswell.

No worries Liz.
I'll try and post them up as I find them.

After the live show they also do a little chat show called "Back to Earth" which I actually enjoyed more.
Brian May posted this as well. So the two vids are from night one.

I dream about the day when we in Australia can have enough public interest to provide demand for a quality show like this. In the meantime we will have to settle for the Astronomy segments on Catalyst. Thanks for the links Jarrod.

I was talking about that with the programmers of BBC Australia late last year. You may get a pleasant surprise later in the year. :)

That's alright Stu.

Oooh, interesting.

I don't think it's a matter of public interest per say as much as it would be a success anyway if they just went ahead and did it. Fly Coxy out, get Dr Karl on board, get a few ring in local celebs with an interest in astronomy and whack it on a major network.
People would go bannanas over it.

I don't ever recall much astro related telly growing up so it would be massive for that to happen.

One thing though if there was something like that then be prepared. Be very prepared. All the astro societies will be inundated and should have a plan, same goes for retailers. They will be overloaded and need good stock levels.
It can only be positive if they were to show something like this.

JJJ, you have met and had a chat with Brian. Any chance you could get him on board to stoke the fires? ;)

I would be the first to volunteer my scope to be used for some live TV hookups. The local TV stations are all based at Mt Coot-tha. I think you would have the local Astronomical Societies falling over themselves to get involved.

Whether it's going to be a one off or a series, they wouldn't elaborate.
Unless the ABC or other stations buy it, it won't be on free to air.
I just hope they pull it off.
