Have a wedding in Samoa next November, and was thinking of mosying up to Alaska for the aurora. Samoa is about 5 hrs south of Hawaii, so a good start. Really want to see the aurora next year, but unsure if this is the best way. Wont have a lot of spare cash, so may be out of my league .... too expensive.
I know Alaska is very popular with aurora watchers, with many areas lying within the 'aurora oval' at around 63' N.
Has anyone been to Alaska, and could give me a few tips of good places to stay to observe the aurora.
I am obviously researching as well, but first hand advice would be appreciated. Many thanks. :)
