The woman rang the radio station back and apologised for not having thought through her ridiculous argument. She also thanked them for being nice to her.

Well, she's got a point. We don't have any deer crossing signs here in Tassie, and I've never seen a deer anywhere near a road.

We have a Duck crossing sign just up the road, and you know what? The Ducks know to cross at that area, Clever little Duckies... :D

Now the MRD are just as bad with those Kangaroo Signs along Tonkin Highway. Maybe they should be out conducting road safety lessons for the local Kangaroo population, then if they don't abide by the rules there will be a culling.

It seems to me that all she needed was someone to explain to her that her logic wasn't sound

We have a sign here that reads "Elderly cross here" but it doesnt explain what made them so angry?

Not being a zebra probably explains the many near misses at such crossings.

The followup here !
http://www.snopes.com/humor/letters/deercrossing.asp

All this fuss, but the deer are still crossing and getting run down - just implement a deer road safety education program and be done with it.

Man if only there was a kangaroo crossing sign just where I hit that roo near Armidale on the way up to Cairns. I might have slow down if I knew it was going to cross right there.
