I wonder whether, in years to come, the Chinese will use their hothouse vege garden on Olympus Mons as the basis for territorial claims - instead of gunboats, we will have broccoli diplomacy.

I recently re-read the Red/Green/Blue Mars trilogy by Kim Stanley Robinson after which the idea doesn't see all that remote.

I love that series I have read that countless times I may read it again soon as I find a lack of good science fiction around these days.

Haven't read that trilogy, must go and find it. But you're right, there is a dearth of good SciFi these days. Maybe reality is catching up with fiction and it's getting harder to write something original.

I just got hold of the 3 as ebooks. Is there a sequence to reading them or are they just individual stories?
